BVRAC Launches Summer Safety Campaign to Help Prevent Drowning and Snake Bite Injuries Across the Brazos Valley

20 Jul, 2026 | BVCOG News | Return|

BRAZOS VALLEY, Texas — As families spend more time outdoors this summer, the Brazos Valley Regional Advisory Council (BVRAC) is launching its Summer Safety & Wellness Campaign to educate residents on preventing two of the season's most common injury risks: drowning and snake bites.

Throughout the summer, BVRAC will share educational resources, safety tips, and community outreach materials designed to help individuals and families make informed decisions while enjoying pools, lakes, rivers, parks, and other outdoor spaces.

"Many summer injuries are preventable with the right knowledge and preparation," said BVRAC. "Our goal is to provide practical information that empowers Brazos Valley residents to stay safe while enjoying everything summer has to offer."

The campaign will focus on:

  • Water safety and drowning prevention
  • Active supervision around water
  • Pool and boating safety
  • Snake bite prevention and response
  • Outdoor safety and seasonal wellness

Residents can expect a series of educational blog articles, social media posts, website resources, and community awareness campaigns throughout the summer. Topics will include recognizing common hazards, understanding emergency response steps, and adopting simple safety practices that can help prevent serious injuries.

BVRAC encourages everyone to take proactive steps before heading outdoors by practicing water safety, remaining aware of their surroundings, learning how to respond in an emergency, and sharing trusted safety information with family and friends.

For additional summer safety resources and educational materials, visit BVRAC's website and follow BVRAC on social media throughout the campaign.
