The Brazos Valley Council of Governments (BVCOG) encompasses the counties of Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson, and Washington. The BVCOG has served as the Economic Development Administration (EDA) designated Economic Development District since 1966 for the Brazos Valley. One of the primary requirements that the EDA requires for the EDD is to create, maintain, and implement the action items identified in the 5-year CEDS for the Brazos Valley. The intention of the strategy is to guide economic development priorities and investment across the region. Additionally, the CEDS must be updated at least every five years for communities to qualify for EDA assistance under its Public Works and Economic Adjustment Assistance Programs.
The BVCOG's Economic and Community Development (ECD) Program is currently accepting public comment on its draft 2026-2030 Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) from 4/16/2026 to 5/16/2026. After this comment period, the ECD program will carefully review the comments and revise the plan accordingly. Thereafter, the plan will be presented to the BVCOG Board of Directors for approval in the June 10th, 2026 Board Meeting.
